LIVING SACRIFICE: 'Overkill Exposure' Video Released
December 22, 2010"Overkill Exposure", the new video from the veteran Christian metal act LIVING SACRIFICE, can be viewed below (courtesy of AOL's Noisecreep). The clip's director, Michael Dalton, told Noisecreep about the video, "As [vocalist Bruce Fitzhugh] explained 'Overkill Exposure' to me, he wanted to make sure I understood the song dealt with some dark content. The message he was portraying on this song was that the dark/evil things we expose ourselves to open us up to more darkness and evil ... The more time I spend watching episodes of murder mysteries, the more I will begin to be opened up to the evil in the world around, and even in myself."
Dalton continued, "When I set out to make this video, I wanted to make sure nothing was pretty and everything had a very eerie feel. What we ended up getting out of that was a story of a man being filled with images of substance abuse, suicide and murder, all heralded in by a raging LIVING SACRIFICE.
"This song hits like a freight train, and the video may require a couple watches to really grasp all of it. But what I hope the viewer walks away with is that we see the lines blurred between fiction and reality for our character — and that maybe if we look close enough, we can see our media intake doing the same for ourselves. "
"Overkill Exposure" comes off LIVING SACRIFICE's latest full-length album, "The Infinite Order", which sold around 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 4 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
A special iTunes-exclusive deluxe edition of "The Infinite Order" was released last month. The newly expanded version of the CD contains a 30-minute, eight-song DVD-quality video and three bonus tracks, including the unreleased song "Glasshouses".
Released on January 26 via Solid State Records, the band's first CD since reforming in 2008 and seventh studio album overall was produced in Nashville, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas by the group's longtime friend Jeremiah Scott (THE SHOWDOWN, DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY). Mixing duties were once again handled by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD, AS I LAY DYING),who worked on the band's last album, 2003's "Conceived in Fire".
LIVING SACRIFICE's influence runs deep throughout the scene. Former and current members of LIVING SACRIFICE went on to play in bands such as EVANESCENCE, P.O.D. and NORMA JEAN.
LIVING SACRIFICE broke up in 2002 but returned to the metal community with a vengeance in 2008, self-releasing the two song "Death Machine" digital-only EP.
